One of the ambitions of uksoils is to provide a space for people to come together to ask questions, share experiences, build communities and develop new initiatives to promote and improve soil health on farms, woodlands and conservation land, and in gardens and parks in villages, towns and cities.
To support this we will be creating a new online community forum which will offer opportunities for people to suggest topics for events and online discussions which can be saved and made available to everyone.
A Farmer's Forum is already available for famers to discuss together and we do not in any way wish to duplicate this. Instead we hope our community forum may pull people in from across different communities (including farmers) to encourage greater understanding as to the challenges faced by land managers and also encourage us all to take part however we can to promote and improve soil health whether that is by buying locally, starting a new community garden initiative, trialling new innovative management approaches or creating new art to inspire all generations.
The community forum will be launched sometime in 2021. If you would like to support us managing this forum or have ideas as to topics for online events and discussions - please get in contact.
uksoils is a consortium of scientific, campaigning and awareness raising organisations, all with a specialist knowledge of soil health, founded by UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Sustainable Soils Alliance, Earthwatch and University of Sheffield.
